Getting fired, laid off, or wrongfully dismissed is a stressful time for an employee.  As a lawyer, it is my duty to make sure that my client receive the best legal advice, and know of his legal rights.

It is prudent that a dismissed employee should speak to a lawyer, and know where he stands and what he is entitled to.

In many occasions, a dismissed employee is given a severance package subject to a time limit to sign a Release.  Before signing the Release, it is recommended that a lawyer will review the severnance package and provide his opinion.

 

Generally a dismissed employee is entitled to damages, although there are occasions that a dismissed employee will not be entitled to compensation if he was dismissed for Just Cause.
